Actuarial Assistant Manager
(Life) - BERMUDA

About the role

A top accountancy firm in Bermuda is seeking actuarial assistant manager (life) for its growing team.

 

You will lead and deliver projects that provide actuarial solutions to a portfolio of clients in the Life Insurance industry.  You passionately apply your knowledge and understanding of market issues to deliver offerings. This includes reserving and financial reporting, audit support, providing actuarial opinions, M&A due diligence and other actuarial consulting projects.  As a trusted business advisor, you enthusiastically initiate and participate in business development and marketing efforts, and actively contribute to a wide range of client projects of a technical actuarial nature.

 

About the team

Our client provides a robust consulting service with both traditional and non-traditional service offerings to assist insurers, reinsurers, captives, pension schemes, banks and non-financial related entities. Our client’s actuaries regularly partner with other actuaries globally on cross-border engagements as well as professionals in accounting and other specialist service lines, to provide a breadth of expertise and tackle problems not possible in most other actuarial consulting firms. The firm has a proven track record in developing robust and practical solutions to a variety of actuarial and risk challenges and supports its employees in their learning and professional development, which includes a study program for employees pursuing a professional actuarial designation.

The requirements

  • A minimum of 3-4 years relevant actuarial experience in the insurance/reinsurance industry, preferably within consulting.

  • Qualified or near qualified as a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, Casualty Actuarial Society, Institute of Actuaries or equivalent.

  • Experience with IFRS 17 and/or US GAAP LDTI implementation projects.

  • Experience with technical actuarial techniques in pricing and reserving.

  • Experience working as an actuarial specialist on audit engagements is an asset.

  • Interest in supporting business development efforts including proposal development and presentations.

Not required, but preferred:

  • Consultancy experience or experience working in a client-facing setting.

  • Familiar with Solvency II, BMA and other regulatory regimes.

Compensation and benefits

A competitive income tax free* remuneration package that is commensurate with qualifications and experience, along with a relocation and work permit package.

*There is no income tax in Bermuda only a small payroll tax.
