Assistant Vice President, Employee Benefits

About the role

One of the global insurance managers in the Cayman Islands is seeking an experienced employee benefits insurance broker to join their team as either an assistant vice president.

​

Reporting to the Director - Brokerage, the successful candidate will be responsible to create business development plans and lead business development initiatives related to growth and retention of the health, group life, disability and employee benefits portfolio of business. The portfolio/book of business the successful candidate will be responsible for will largely consist of legal and financial services clients.

Specific duties include:

  • Develop proposals, presentations, manage the renewal process, conduct market reviews, assist with program installations, wellness programs and drive business development initiatives related to the Health and Employee Benefits portfolio.

  • Receive and manage routine and complex coverage, referral and claims adjudication queries.

  • Manage pre-renewal/mid-policy term performance discussions and evaluations, and other related tasks which arise.

  • Provide assistance to clients during installations, claims processes, issues and manage resolutions.

  • Follow up on servicing with members, employers, insurers, government, and providers.

  • Prepare and oversee insurance documents.

  • Develop and streamline workflow processes.

  • Maintain excellent, in-depth knowledge of products/services and relevant local legislation.

  • Perform due diligence on new and renewal clients, such as ACD checks and ensure compliance requirements are maintained.

The requirements

  • Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree and an ACII, Cert CII (IF7), HIA, AHIP, US insurance license or equivalent relevant designation or license.

  • Solid broker experience in large group health and employee benefits insurance broking, leading a portfolio.

  • Experience in dealing with C-Suite Clients within the financial, professional services or legal sectors is highly desirable. 

  • Strong client relationship management skills are also essential, as well as having solid negotiation skills and demonstrable experience in managing and growing a portfolio of business.

  • The successful applicant will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be an effective and impactful presenter.

  • Experience using Applied EPIC software desirable, but not required.

Compensation and benefits
